Hi folks,
Those interested in doing UCAC-based astrometry in Charon should
look here:

Regarding Frank's comments about problems with NGC 999: it looks as
if, in Guide 8, I may be able to use some data from the NGC-IC project.
This is a project to clear up errors in the NGC and IC projects: not
just coordinate problems, but misidentifications ("yes, there _is_ an
object there, but it's not the one intended by NGC xyz"), blunders,
and so forth. The home page for the project is at
http://www.ngcic.com
In Guide 8, I mostly used the SAC (Saguaro Astronomy Club) database,
combined with some data from the PGC, Perek-Kohoutek, and others.
NGC-IC looks to be a tremendous improvement over these.
Also, John Greaves, who has put together quite a few .TDFs for Guide,
sent me the following...

The link:-

contains several links, in one place, to TDFs (& some ETBs) re newly
suspected unconfirmed variables, confirmed suspected variables, and
newly confirmed variables.
