Then download this file to your Guide folder

This will enable display of the GCVS-2004 when next you start Guide.
Look under Extras... Toggle User Added Datasets, and "GCVS (2004)" will
appear among the entries.

You should also go into Display... Data Shown, and turn variables off in
that dialog. This will shut off Guide's built-in variable star data,
leaving only the GCVS-2004 variable stars.

This catalogue has had some improvements in recent years. Coordinates
have been fixed, and new objects added. You can download the current
version of the GCVS here (about 6.6 MBytes).
<http://www.sai.msu.su/groups/cluster/gcvs/gcvs/iii/iii.dat> If you put
this in your Guide folder, still with the name 'iii.dat', then the Go
To... Star... Variable Star function will make use of the new file
