alright, as I seem to have a fixation with it being the iii.dat file,
here's a little test if you want to try it
in
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/guide-user/files/ I've put
iii.zip, which is a zipped version of iii.dat messed about with a
little bit. You'll have to log in to your yahoo account to get at
that, likely.
Download it, unzip it. Go to your Guide directory and delete iii.dat
that is there and delete gcvs.idx that is there (incidentally, make
sure Guide is not running when you do this).
Upgrade to the test version of Guide again, even if you upgraded once
the other day, reupgrade.
Copy this fiddled with iii.dat over to the Guide directory, run the
new upgraded Guide, test on a name list 77 or 78 object that is in one
of the early alphabet constellations, _not_ Vulpecula.
Of course, you could've already been testing with the old gcvs.tdf
still likely on your hard drives, using GO TO TDF, to see if this read
the latest iii.dat properly, as a check.
It'll probably make no difference but give it a try, but I've got this
fixation going that the iii.dat file needs to be thoroughly removed
from suspicion, as they don't always do their data files that cleanly.
Cheers
John
PS I'll delete iii.zip in a day or two, no matter what the result, as
it only takes up the limited space in Guide-user group's filespace
