Hi Bill,
my report about first testing the new feature ASCOM scope control.
I have just tried new ASCOM scope control with Guide8 and my mount
Skywatcher EQ6 and EQMOD-ASCOM driver 1.06b.
Some details about EQMOD project on this page
http://eq-mod.sourceforge.net/eqascom.htm
and yahoo group
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/EQMOD/
PC system was Centrino Notebook Dell Inspiron 510m with real COM1 and
running WXP. All worked as announced by you. I was able to slew Guide to
telescope position or to slew telescope to Guide position.
Red scope location indicator also worked perfect. As my EQ6 slews with a
speed up to 800x a smoother moving of the red symbol with updates in shorter
steps would be better. But I don't know about behaviour of older Notebooks
or PCs in doing this job.
But I think one little bug still exists at the moment. The ASCOM driver gets
not closed after closing the application Guide. And it makes no difference
if I told Guide before that I have no telescope anymore. Guide is closing
normal but the ASCOM driver can only be "killed" by the task manager.
This is a problem in Guide because I use some other different applications
and there the driver gets always closed with the application.
Again thank you for this new version of Guide8 with many new usefull
features. The ability to find A2.0 and UCAC-2 stars by catalog number will
be also very important for me.
Regards
Gerhard
