The fix that worked: Download the MPCORD.zip file. Unzip. Find the
MPCORB.DAT file and move it to the Guide directory. Asteroids appear!

_Usually_, the fix described therein fixes the problem: it boils
down to asteroid elements not being available to the program, and once
you make them available (from the second Guide CD-ROM), asteroids reappear.
However, some folks have been reporting that this doesn't do the
job. I still have no idea why. I expect I'll be adding some "test"
code to investigate the problem: something that will build up a report
file logging what Guide is doing when drawing asteroids, that will
allow me to see where the problem comes into play.
