Yes, that aurora was indeed impressive. It wasn't the brightest
aurora I've ever seen, but it certainly was the reddest aurora
I've ever seen. And it was plainly visible in central
Stockholm, despite the light pollution there.

I don't know if they have really. They certainly have aurorae more
frequently than we do (in Kiruna, for instance, there's an aurora
almost every clear night, so the people there rarely bother to look
at them), but I don't think they have much brighter aurorae than
we had over Stockholm last night.

Also: when the aurora moves southwards, people far north see less
aurorae than usual. I would guess that this splendid aurora display
over Stockholm last night from Kiruna was seen as a faint auroral
arc low in the south.
