I displayed the above region in Guide 8 and the image is completely white. I
renamed the file to 7c000580.fts and opened it in AIP. The pixel values are all in
the range from -29681 to 0. I added 35000 ADUs to all pixels and saved the
image. The effect was nill as you also noted, it was again white.

If you right click on the upper left corner of the image you will get the folowing
information:

7c000580.fit
573x882
imgda124.idx
Line 5
Contrast 1500 to 10000

There is a subfolder with the name Images. I opened the file imgda124.idx with
WordPad. In line 4 (!) is the entry for the above image:
4 set of coordinates (probably the corners of the image), min and max values,
dimension. But the rest of the line I can't interpret. Perhaps some byte positions
in the file Imgda124.lmp. I opened it, but besides the first characters (which
equals a FITS-header) its binary.

Now I closed Guide, deleted 7c000580.fit, renamed the processed image from
7c000580.fts to 7c000580.fit and reopened Guide. Et voila, the image displays
ok.

But I don't know if this will last forever, since it seams that the images which are
displayed in the window of Guide will be created on the fly, because the date
and time of the fit-files are actual.

Clear skies
Bernd
