When you use the goto command in guide it moves the scope to the center of
the Guide star map. I have the same problem that the object is not always
in the center. I sync the scope at the location shown on your camera image
by moving the mouse arrow, or cursor, to the location on the Guide Map that
corresponds to the center of your image. That tells Guide where the scope
is pointing.

Then move the mouse to the location on the Guide map where you want the
scope to be pointing and use the goto button, or "slew telescope" button to
move the telescope to that exact location.

Your second question is about the "Add alignment star" button.

That is the same as a "Sync" button. It tells the scope where it is pointing.

and go to page 37. There is a lot of text about adding alignment stars
there but you can ignore most of that.

Think of the "Add alignment star" button as a Sync button.

I have an older LX200 classic telescope but I have used Guide with the
newer GPS units and it works just the same.
