[guide-user] Sloan DSS ACR with Guide.

Octavi Fors Aldrich Dec 15, 1999

Hi everybody,

first of all, I must congratulate the list-manager, because I think it's
been an interesting idea to create such a forum of guide users.

My question is regarding how to display in guide the Sloan Astrometric
Calibration Region (ACR) data. By now I'm not able to display
information of this dataset when right-clicking a star that I
know it's included in that catalog. Here I describe the way I proceed:

Following the instructions detailed in
http://www2.projectpluto.com/extras.htm#Sloan_ACR, I put sloan.tdf at
guide7 directory. Before that I edited that file including the proper path
to the ASCII data files:

file c:\Archivos de programa\GUIDE7\sdss\regionj.dat
title Sloan J Standards

Then run Guide7 and going to Extras|Toggle User datasets|Sloan J
Standards. Then I select "auto", "Limiting magnitude=18.0" and I left
"Show at=0-180".The "Label" option is not available at any case. With
these parameters set I obtained a Sloan.tdf file such as the one I attach
you.

Then I right-click on a star of a region that I know it's within
REGIONJ.dat, and I don't see any information (coordinates,
magnitude,etc...) of ACR catalog.

Any ideas what's going on?

Please let me know any hint you have,

thanks in advance,

Octavi.
