This is only the DSS server croaking. Actually what has happened is
that the DSS server that Guide uses has changed it's interface a bit,
and to solve the problem you can no longer use the old version
parameters, but rather new ones like "poss1_red" etc. and this causes
problems. I've fixed this on my web-site (I think!), and I'm sure Bill
knows what the problem is, but just in case here is a list of some
of the new version parameters that can be used:
all = Use the best
dss1 = Available 1st gen. survey (red in north, blue in south)
poss1_blue = 1st gen. survey (blue)
poss1_red = 1st gen. survey (red)
poss2ukstu_red = 2nd gen. red (95%)
poss2ukstu_blue = 2nd gen. blue (50%)
poss2ukstu_ir = 2nd gen. infrared
If in doubt, use "all" and the best one available will be used, or
dss1 for complete sky in visual. It may be that they have changed
other things as well, but this fix helped me fix the Deep Sky Browser
at least. Here is the original DSS image form for those that want to
try without Guide:
