MFC crash/DSS trouble/WDS download

Hi Greg, all,

Wish I _was_ at the eclipse... one rather nice annular eclipse
passed right over Project Pluto corporate headquarters in 1994,
but that's the largest percentage of sun that I've personally
seen eclipsed.

I am now plowing through a backlog of e-mails, and should
catch up in the next few days. A few quick comments:

Mark, it sounds as if you've got a very definite "here's how
I'm getting the bug" situation. That's a good thing; it means
I've got some hope of replicating the situation, and then of
figuring it out. Could you please send me the file 'startup.mar'
from your Guide folder? (Via private e-mail; no attachments on
this group.) Also, you mention that the lock-up occurs when you
"left-click on a particular place on the screen". If you can
specify that a bit, I'll click on the same point, and (we may
hope) see the same bug. (Fixing bugs is rarely difficult.
Duplicating them usually is.)

Antonio, thanks for mentioning the DSS issue, and Owen, thanks
for mentioning the DSS format change. I can verify that this is
_definitely_ causing the trouble (the URL used to get an image has
to be fiddled with a bit). Doesn't look like too tough a fix.

Frank, about saving the WDS file: it sounds as if you've found
the right place on the Project Pluto home page, at

http://www.projectpluto.com/extras.htm#WDS

and clicked on the link to grab the WDS catalog from the US
Naval Observatory. At that point, you should be able to click
on File... Save As. Then save it to the Guide folder, with the
.txt extension.

Except that it sounds as if you're doing this, and still
running into trouble. What exactly happens? Does the file get
saved, but not where you expect it to be? Or... ? (I'm not
sure I'm actually understanding the problem.)

More to come...
