Re: [guide-user] Installing Guide 6 & Getting it to Run

Hi,

GUIDE6 is quite old.
I am running GUIDE 8 which is already at least 3 years old.
I have donated my GUIDE6 CD to an observatory in South Africa in 1999, which
means I already had GUIDE 7 by that time.

Somewhere between GUIDE 6 and GUIDE 7 Bill rebuilt GUIDe for 32 bits, IIRC.
Do you have the latest version of GUIDE6?

Subject: [guide-user] Installing Guide 6 & Getting it to Run

I'm trying to install Guide 6 on a Toshiba 2512CDS laptop with Win98 SE
on it. In Windows I'm running Setup.exe to install it. The install
seems to go fine. (Please note that everything else I have installed on
the Toshiba works just fine.)

But when I try to run Guide6.exe in Windows I get the following error
message: "'C:\Guide\Guide6.exe' is not a valid Win32 application."

When I try running Guide.exe in a DOS window I get the DOS
message: "Error in exe file."

If I try Running Guide.exe from Windows I get the following
message: "The file 'C:\Guide\Guide.exe' is not a valid MS-DOS program
file. It may be damaged."

I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling with no luck in the results. Any
idea as to what may be going on here?
