Re: [guide-user] More on constant Guide 6 mfc crashes

Bill,

I finally did a complete re-install last night. This is the third time I've
had to do it because of these Guide6 mfc crashes. Everything works fine,
now. The only thing I lost was bitmap 1 for the Moon, which was always
there until I did this fresh install. I like it better than bitmap 3.
Nothing I've tried will show it now unless CD1 is in the drive. How can I
get it back?

I hope the following will help you with fixing the Guide 6 mfc crashes.
When I had them before, they were always in the GoTo function. You fixed
that, and I never got them again until recently. (Maybe after I installed
the Jan 21 beta...? I don't know.)

The crashes started a few weeks ago, and gradually got worse until
yesterday when I could't even open Guide. (This was the first time I ever
had that problem, but I kept getting the Guide6 mfc message every time I
tried to open the program.)

This time they have been in the Location dialogs, both in the main screen
and in the eclipse mode. Example: If I entered "Anyang" in the location
box, the full name of the location and the time set appeared at the top.
When I to Al Hillah, Al Hillah would show at the top, but if I opened the
location dialog it was stuck at Anyang. I tried typing over it, I tried
deleting it, closing the location dialog and re-entering the site,
sometimes it worked, sometimes not. Sometimes when I went to an eclipse I
was familiar with, geo eclipse mode showed the path going through Anyang
(for example) when I knew it did not. If I switched back to the main
screen, opened the Location dialog, I'd find it stuck on Anyang. Sometimes
it would take three or four tries to get it right. The box was simply not
clearing.

There was one strange case yesterday, before I totally crashed. I entered a
name, I don't remember what, one I had been to several times before, in the
location dialog, and got the "Location not found" message. But when I
looked at the top of the screen, the name and time were both there.

Bill, I don't know if any of this will help you. My Guide is working fine
as far as I know, but others may have the problem, so I've gone into as
much detail as I could.
