Um. No ideas on this one... has anyone seen a similar situation?

Guide will often show _some_ asteroids fainter than the selected
magnitude. It uses a somewhat rough method to ensure that if you set,
say, a mag 14.5 limit, then all asteroids down to mag 14.5, plus a
few fainter ones, will be shown. But it shouldn't be showing them down
quite as far as you mention.

Two suggestions:

(1) Send me the file 'startup.mar' from your Guide folder, and I'll
see if I can replicate the problem.

(2) Try displaying asteroids using the 'mpcorb.dat' data. This is
described at

A warning: if you use this dataset, I recommend using the current
'in-testing' version of Guide at

http://www.projectpluto.com/new.htm

The MPC did some odd things when asteroids with numbers greater than
99999 were designated, and the 'in-testing' version handles those odd
things correctly.
