and put the old '386 out in the observatory, or where they picked up an
old laptop cheap.) One of the few major software changes I'll have to
make for 8.0 will be to provide a better interface and finer control over
"hard drive-ization", and to have it handle the situation where no CD
is available with better grace. <<

That would be good, since one doesn't always want to change CDs in order to
do a quick check on something.
