This is a catalog problem. The GCVS coordinates for both AM and the nearby V726 are off by about 26 arcsec. I have found that a number of the GCVS coordinates are off by varying amounts. Guide is just plotting them where GCVS says to. Other planetarium programs do the same. Whenever there is a nearby star of about the same magnitude as a variable, I would advise checking the position with SIMBAD.

AM is in the Tycho II catalog so the definitive J2000 coordinates are 5h 52m 21.4a, 16d 17' 00.6".

photometry with the wrong star since a fainter star, not shown in

realized that the variable star was offset. Why variables' circle are
offset from the actual variables' position? How can I overcome this
