after a year I did not remind exactly what to do.
But I found this line(s) in my file "guide.dat"

(in row #9)
UCAC2_PATH=c:\programme\astro\guide8\ucac2\u2

and the answer of your question
(in row #14)
A2_PATH=14.0;c:\programme\astro\guide8\usno_a2;e:

14.0 seems to be the limit and e: is my CD/DVD drive

I don't know about importance of row position in guide.dat
