[guide-user] Ephemerids in Guide

Pierre Laporte Dec 14, 1999

Hello, Guide users.

I have been following this discussion group since the beginning. I find
it
very interesting all discussions on Guide and all preliminary info that
Bill
Gray can provide us about future improvement of Guide. I have been
using it
since version 3. I have upgrade Guide since then and I will surely
upgrade
to Guide 8 when it will be available. I thing that Bill is doing a
great job
even if I didn't use regularly all improvement. I am mostly using Guide
for
visual observation. I use an 8 inch SC.

I am a French-Canadian living in Quebec. At the request of James, I
would
like to help him to improve his French. Is there any rules in this
discussion group for using any other languages than English ? I could
post
some French for james, but I feel that other users could be a little bit
frustrated not to understand. For me, it not a problem, and I would
appreciate to read some posting in German in order to improve the German
language that I try to read.

I find the discussion about comparing the ephemerid capacities of Dance
and
Guide. I am using the Observer Companion of Dance to produce ephemerids
and
get back to Guide when I need some charts for my observation site.

I use ephemerid tables to plan observation sessions. One table that I
find
useful in Guide in Guide is the twilight (civil, nautical and
astronomical).
I generate this table and moon ephemerid with Dance of Planet Observer
Companion. I import those two tables (twilight and moon) into a Exel
spreadsheet and use a macro to get a table of observation time available
without moon in the night. I find that this kind of info given by Guide
too
limited. Even if Guide doesn't do that job, I will really appreciate to
have
Guide at least generate table of twilight time and ephemerid for rising
and
setting moon (ant other objects, by the way...). With that capability, I
won't have to joggle between Dance, Exel, and Guide and even Notepad of
Window....

Thank you Bill for provide us a way to modify the geographic. I will
add my
the coordinates of my observatory and enjoy the track of occultation
around
it.
