Hi folks,

First I've heard of this problem, and it seems to be affecting at
least three people. (But it often happens that somebody mentions a
problem here that I assume is rare, and then several people chime in
with "yup, I've seen that, too.")
If it happens to you, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE e-mail me a copy of
your startup.mar file. I'd be _very_ interested to see in what way it
is corrupted.
The startup.mar file is read in when Guide starts up, and a fresh
copy is written out when Guide shuts down. (That way, any changes you
have made to RA/dec, time zone, data display, etc. are stored for the
next time you run the program.) It sounds as if Guide is running into
trouble when it is shut down and writes out the file. With any luck,
I'll be able to look at the corrupted file and say, "Huh! What's that
garbage doing at line thus-and-such? Hmmm... OK, _now_ I see the problem."
Thanks! -- Bill
