"Show eclipse..." does not display full region of eclipse visibility

Hi all,

When preparing for the March 2006 eclipse i noted a strange thing:
The "show eclipse" shows the path of the moons shadow across the globe
and the surrounding regions, where the partially eclipsed sun is
visible. I assume that this display should show the largest amount of
partial eclipse for any given location, no matter what time this
maximum eclipse occurs.

This display seems to be incomplete, as it ignores those regions in
the western-most parts of the eclipsed region, where the sun only
rises AFTER totality.

In the case of the march 2006 eclipse, large chunks of brasil and the
western atlantic are not shown to have a partial eclipse, where at
least a partially eclipsed sun can be seen at/after sunset.

When simulating the eclipse with guide from a position above brasil,
that effect can be seen.

I am not sure about the eastern rim of the eclipse zone, where the
shadow leaves the earth again.

What is your opinion on this?

Regards, Martin
