Hmmm... I've tried replicating this in several ways, without
success. So, a few questions:

Are you using the current software from the Web site?

Does putting the first Guide CD into the CD drive make it work?

Try entering "04008"; this is the postal code for Bowdoinham,
Maine, where I am. You ought to get a location around 69.9 W,
44.01 N.

Also, try entering "Bowdoinham, ME".

Also, try entering "413". This is the Minor Planet Center
observatory code for Loomberah in Australia. (I realize none of
these are the places you actually want! But it would help to know
if Guide is having problems just with world cities, or with places
in general.)

Entering "Sydney" ought to do the trick; Guide considers that
to be the most significant Sydney. Were you to be looking for
Sydney, Canada, you'd have to specify the country.
