Hi Bertrand and Alexander,
The following worked for me, your mileage may vary. I tried toggling the
Bayer letters on and off, but it made no difference.
I've been playing with the "Summer Triangle", Deneb, Vega, and Altair in
order to find out what's wrong with the display of Sirius. I keep level 20
set at 0.01" so I can go to level 19 (with fixed levels off) and zoom in on
Deimos and Phobos. I can set level 19, Goto any of these three stars,
center on them, and zoom down to 0.01" without losing them. (I did have to
zoom in very small steps so I could keep re-centering on them.)
Sirius is a different case. Turn on the center "+" and set the level at 15
(30"). You will find two images of Sirius. Only one image shows the name
label, and this will be whatever you have set in Display. Put the mouse
arrow on the center of one image, hold the right mouse button down, drag a
line to the center of the other image, and release the mouse button. You
will find these two images are only 7.0" apart. Drag a line from Sirius to
the center + and you will find that Goto centers the chart about the same
7" from Sirius. If you zoom in to level 16 without centering on
Keeping Sirius centered, zoom in one level at a time, and you should be
able to go to level 20 if you are still using the default 1".
Bertrand, you said Common star names are displayed through a .TDF. Click on
"Toggle user datasets", then on "Common star names", but I don't seem to
have this, only the star name option in Star Display. Help?
