Before someone else says it, let me. Quoting my own booboo (see below) if
Sirius disappears, how the devil can you right-click on it to get to
Display? Duh.

Not sure what you mean. Start at a low magnification (or "wide field"), say
level 3 (45 deg). Then right-click on any star, click Display, set "Common
names on". Then "Goto|Object name"|Sirius, then Settings|Level...|10. Does
Sirius disappear? Then right-click on Sirius, click Display, and see what
the Star Display settings are. If Sirius disappears, I can't think of any
reason why this would happen. But someone else will probably know.
