satellite magnitudes

my experience is that Guide8 estimated satellite magnitudes
closely match other predictors +/- 0.1. occasionally,
a sat's standard magnitude might need to be adjusted in line0
and some sats are variable during a pass. I've been happy
with the predictions and have not noticed unusual or
pervasive anomalies in that regard.

I noticed that Guide8 seems to show artifical satellites in earth
orbit as being much brighter than do other software packages (such as
Dennis Boucher's EOO, for example). In fact, based on my own
observations of several satellites, I think Guide8 considerably
overstates the brightness of many of these objects. []
