Re: [guide-user] Slow printing speed with Guide 8.0 and Windows XP

Hi Werner,
My guess would be that some setting is different in Guide between
the two computers. To test this out, could I ask that you e-mail me
the file 'startup.mar' from the Guide folder of each machine?
In many cases where someone has had trouble with an HP printer,
the driver has been a factor. In particular, if the printouts are
fast in portrait mode but slow in landscape mode, then it's the
driver, and there's not much I've figured out that can get around
that problem. (Quite a few other problems with HP printers, mostly
dealing with images, but the landscape/portrait one is the biggie.)
You're using the same drivers on both machines, I realize, but
perhaps one is producing portrait plots and the other landscape ones?
In theory, since you're using the same drivers on both machines,
the file sizes ought to be similar. But if (for example) you have
gone into Display... Star Display, and turned "blurring" on, then
the output file will get larger.
Also: are both machines running the current Guide software from
the Web site?
