Hi Pat,
Problem here is that B1.0 is about 80 GBytes in its raw format,
and considerably longer in the text format in which it's provided
over the Internet. Getting an entire hemisphere in that manner is
unlikely to work.
If you can get a copy of B1.0 on a hard drive, in the original
form as distributed by USNO, then Guide will be able to read it,
using the 'in-testing' version described at
http://www.projectpluto.com/new.htm
The first improvement listed is this ability to use B1.0 data.
Actually laying hands on a hard drive full of B1.0 data is another
matter. I gather a gent in Europe (Austria, maybe?) got one and is
selling copies, on USB drives, at cost. But he's had problems
sending them overseas. I'm not sure if it's a customs matter or a
terrorist-under-every-bed paranoia problem. You would have to find
somebody in the US who has the data, and is willing to provide a
copy of it. (Perhaps USNO itself.)
