DSS image problem

Bill,
Strange behavior with the DSS/Real Sky images. With RS images from Guide
8 cd, those will turn on/off normally and control the contrast and
intensity is active. The same goes for DSS downloaded from the internet.
But if I try to load a DSS image form a directory, i.e. *.fit*, it will
not load. If it does, any changes in contrast or intensity and the image
is gone leaving only the outline. If you click on the image, the
contrast range changes as you change the level with arrow keys,
sometimes showing 1000 to 36814 to 500 to 10000 for the same image. With
Real Sky images, loaded from the Real Sky CD, the image loads but
contrast and intensity can not be changed.
I have always been able to load my saved downloaded DSS images in Guide
6, 7 and previous version of Guide 8, if I remember correctly. Maybe I
missing something in the process. On the other hand, my saved images
open just fine in Real Sky.
On the same topic, why have the RS images always being displayed when I
download a DSS. My point is, they overlap. How can I maintain the RS
images, from guide cd, turned off and only display the DSS images I have
loaded or downloaded. Is not having these images loaded from the cd be
the only solution to prevent display.
BTW, Larry has the same exact results on his system.
