Do you have Guide set with "realistic" checked in "Background" mode. Turn it to
"normal colors".

I just had XP installed a couple of months ago. I was using Me and found it was a
terrible hog of resources. With Me, my CPU was running at 60% capacity just
running a simple program with a few graphics. It would allocate as much memory to
the task as was available (over 150 megs) on a 1.5 cpu w/ 256 megs ram.

The same machine w/ XP uses about 10% of resource, maximum.
