Hi Scott,

Shouldn't actually be necessary... Guide will give you those
"old" comets (everything known when your CD was pressed), as
is, no need to add the JPL file.

The JPL file _would_ give you almost all comets discovered
since the CDs were pressed, but without magnitude data.

I think you may be getting a bit of confusion because Guide
isn't showing the comet in the Edit Comet Data dialog, or in
its list of comets in Quick Info or "Go To Comet" or "Make List
of Comets" functions. The old comets won't appear in the Edit
Comet Data dialog; they're assumed to be "fixed", with no
new data to change their orbits. So I restricted the "editable"
comets to be a small subset of the full list.

The other lists are all limited by magnitude. You should set
your date/time in Guide back to the point where the comet(s) in
question might actually be passably bright. Then either use
"Make Comet List" with a suitably faint magnitude limit; _or_
go into Data Shown, set the magnitude level at which comets
are shown to a suitably faint level, and then use "Go To Comet".

The date issue is particularly important because you mentioned
comets from about 1990. Most of these would now be _very_ faint,
i.e., down around Hubble Space Telescope levels of detection.
To get them to show up, you'll _have_ to set a date sometime
back around 1990.
