comet data file

Hey all!
I'm at work right now so I can't test this out, but I wanted to
check if anyone else has wondered......
I use the common "observable comets" file from the Minor Planet
center. It currently shows about 170 comets.
What is their requirement as being "observable"?
Is there a data file that lists ALL comets, something like the
MPCORB does for asteroids?
You are wondering why? I'm trying to go back in my observing notes
and match up my notes with the actual positions of comets that I
logged. I figured if I go back in time in GUIDE, I can track down
some of the comets at that time. Some go back to the early 1990's
and late 1980's and are no longer "observable", so are not listed in
the file.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
