Bill,
Concerning the satellite elements availability the paranoid whackos rule
again. It reminds me of the "a commie behind every tree" nonsense back in
the fifties. In fact, it is just like it.
As for the latest printer driver I have the latest. I have an Epson Stylus
280, a $200.00 ink jet printer. This print feature use to work by the way
and on this printer. Also no rush on this.
Thanks for your time and work on this.
Julian

Hi Julian,
Unfortunately, the satellite downloading feature is going
to have to be junked. I'm rather annoyed by this fact, but
it looks as if we're stuck with it.
Previously, satellite elements from the US Government were
freely available. Terrorism paranoia has led to these being
available only to registered users of
http://www.space-track.org
You can get elements from this site, download them to your
hard drive, then use the TLE= function to select elements from
your hard drive rather than via Internet download.
It appears that signing up to space-track.org is relatively
straightforward. I'd urge you to read the usage agreement
carefully. It looks to be very restrictive.
I don't know how long elements will be unavailable; it's
possible, I think, that some compromise will be reached
(one wherein, for example, elements for a few hundred
prominent objects will be made publicly available.) But in the
meantime, we would appear to be out of luck here.
Regarding the printer crash: as I mentioned before, my
guess would be a printer driver bug. You don't mention if you've
tried getting the latest driver for the printer?
In the past, I've occasionally been able to offer "workarounds"
for printer bugs (which are annoyingly common; this seems to be
especially true for HP printers.) If the current printer driver
crashes, then I'll see if I can puzzle out something of that ilk.
