Re: [guide-user] Locking program

Hi Judith,

A couple of possibilities leap to mind.

First, try the easy thing: grab the updated software from the Web
site. This fixes an amazing array of maladies, usually involving files
that got corrupted and are replaced as part of the update. If that
fails...

You mention adding a drive. That can cause drive letters to wander;
Guide might be looking for a CD in drive D:, but that may now be the
letter of your new hard drive. To fix this, edit the file 'startup.mar'
in the text editor of your choice, and look for these two lines:

18 drive d:\
63 real CD d

Change both 'd's to point to the actual letter for your CD, and you
should be all set.

And if that fails, delete everything in and beneath the Guide folder,
and re-install from the CD-ROM. Then apply the current upgrade. This
is a "method of last resort", because your personal settings for lat/lon,
time zone, preferences for data shown, etc. will get clobbered. But
if all else fails, it's the way to go.
