Hi Mikkel,
as far as I know "Extras | Add MPC comets/asteroids" adds comets, which are
not included at the database of GUIDE and updates the data of the comets,
which are already there. But it doesn't remove comets.
And that's good! Because if you want to have a look at GUIDE for the sky at
a time years ago, you'll have the old comets too.
Comet data downloaded from the internet are saved at the comets.dat in the
Guide directory, not at [Guide-dir]\Asteroid\Cometg.dat. At the end of
comets.dat you'll find information when the downloads had happen.
If you want to delete a comet use "Extras, Edit comet data". Choose the
comet from the list and doubleklick on it.
In the next window you'll find a button "delete", which will remove the
comet from the database.
Guide-users, Bill, if I had made any mistake here, please correct me. :-)
Clear sky,
Oliver

Betreff: [guide-user] Erranous comet data
Hi!
I tried to observe the comet P/Harrington-Wilson the other day, bu
according to this
http://www.aerith.net/comet/catalog/1952B1/index.html it has not been
observed since it was discovered. It's gone! However I've been unable
to remove this comet in Guide. I could remove it from the
[Guide-dir]\Asteroid\Cometg.dat file manually. Why does it not
disappear when I download the latest data with Extras | Add MPC
comets/asteroids...?
Vennlig hilsen,
Mikkel Steine
