The update I just posted doesn't include any fix for the Internet
download problem. Unfortunately, I have almost no idea as to why
this would happen.

The best I can come up with is this. If you started up Guide with
a mouse click on a desktop icon, and Guide came up with a toolbar
button immediately under the cursor, perhaps Guide is catching the
"mouse button release" event as a click on the toolbar button. And
if that toolbar button corresponds to (say) "get A2.0 data from the
Internet", then Guide would attempt to do that.

Seems a little strange, since Guide shouldn't capture that event.
And it sounds as if this is happening more than once.

It may be well to try the update, just to see if this event vanishes
as mysteriously as it came.

Anyone else seeing this? If so, and if you spot any behavior of
the "it happens when I do _this_" variety, please let me know.
