Re: [guide-user] Doubled labels

Bill,

I thought I had eliminated the problem by deleting Guide and _any_
reference to it in Windows Explorer before I re-installed. I have a gut
feeling now that I may have checked out the doubling _before_ I extracted
the October 2 guide.zip to the Guide directory. If so, the problem may be
in the current update.

I don't usually have a reason to narrow the field very much, but after
seeing Larry Wood's post I checked and the problem is still there. Maybe
the following behavior analysis will give you an "Aha!" At least, I hope so.

I used Sirius as a test, with Guide set for alt/az, zenith up, and PPM labels.

1: At level 7, 2 degrees, no doubling. Level 8, 1 degree, same.

2: At level 9, 30 minutes, 2 stars (217639 & 217656) had double labels, no
other doubling in field. However, when I pressed the right arrow to scroll
half a screen, Sirius was bisected at the left edge of the screen and the
label was doubled. When the left arrow was pressed to bring Sirius back to
the center of the screen, the doubling disappeared.

3: At level 10, 15 minute field,Sirius centered, there was no doubling of
Sirius' label. Again, scrolling half a screen to put Sirius at the left
edge of the screen doubled Sirius' label.

4: At level 11, 8 minute field, Sirius' label finally doubled.

Using the above method, Vega and Albireo showed approximately the same
results as Sirius. (In the process of testing the labeling, I found that
Sirius and Vega do not show magnitude labels, didn't check other bright
stars.)

Bill, does this help any? Anything you'd like me to try?

Larry
