[guide-user] back to boring old help requests

James Ellis Mar 10, 2000

Ever seen the movie "on the beach?" -the old one that is

I turned on Guide the other day to check out the best visibility of the May
17 Venus-Jupiter conjunction.
My birthday!

I had some comets and asteroids on screen at level 3 and when I went to
resest time to above date - nothing happened. So I ctrl-alt-del and started
back up.
I tried zooming to level 2 then found jupe (time worked) and all the
comets and asteroids appeared on the same point on the screen with jupe.
The label looked something like p/rigashotemVI98levy89VIII !
I solved it by turning all asteroids and comets off. Then doing a planet
search.

looks like about 20mins before sunrise is when I will get them closest -
should be all in field of 10mm ep.
They may be seen during the day from the atlantic hemisphere. Check it out
for your site.

Any answers previously or new that might explain the above?

Its been raining here for 7 days now and more forecasted - a cyclone
crossed the entire top of the continent (about 3000km) and dumped water on
the desert. The lakes are filling for the first time in 20 years.
Is this getting the doomsdayers worried? May 5 etc.

Cheers
James
