after getting no reaction for a week I'll ask again:

I encountered the following problem:
while doing astrometry of comets (with Astrometrica) on my very first ccd
frames (from january 1995) I wanted to display comet C/1994T1 (Machholz) which
also had the designation 1994r (old style). I set the date and time to 30 Jan
1995 18:09 UT with limiting magnitude for comets set to 20mag.

But only comet Nakamura-Nishimura-Machholz (1994m) and P/Machholz 2 (1994o)
(141P)showes up in the find comet dialog (when searching for "Machholz" after
using the edit function). After setting comets to "on", comet 1994r is shown
with a 3.5 deg tail but with mag 99.0! Visually the comet was around 13th mag
at that time.

Can someone explain this discrepancy?
