I hav'nt been able to give you the right explanations of my trubbles, but fortunately, yourse were the good ones.
So far, I did'nt know it was possible to increase or decrease the number of displayed cities, using the "+" or "-" buttons. I'hav'nt seen anywhere such an explanation, and certainly it is, but I'm not sure the majority of Guide users is aware of such a thing.
So when you asked me to try to do that, I zoomed in and out, using the "*" and "/" buttons, but whithout any effect on the number of cities.
Thanks to your detailed advices, all is right: using "+", Madrid appears first, then Barcelona, then, the thre other cities, etc ...
Since you are definitely "the" specialist of city names in geo mode, may I exagerate asking you an other question :-)
How can I display the two millions cities names at only level 9 and more, since it crowds the screen at level 8 (in my case, they appears at level 8 and more), and thanks your new geonames file, the small cites are "displayable" at inferior levels ?

Incidentally, I'm working on merging the CITIES database with the
GEONAMES.DAT (removing duplicates and aliases, and including all CITIES
places that don't appear in GEONAMES.DAT at "level of importance" 9 -- the
lowest).

Maybe you ARE seeing the new place names, but in your case can't easily tell
the difference. Switching from a 4,000 place database to a 60,000 place
database isn't all that noticeable at first glance.

Try this:

* Make sure that the GUIDE8/GEO/GEONAMES.DAT file is 1928 kb long (mine),
and not 135kb (Guide's).

* Press "+" and "-" in geo mode and see if cities appear in proper level of
importance or not.



Which behavior are you seeing?

I would like to know what's going on (or what the right way to do all this
is... Bill?) so that I can add a usage hint in my Guide page :-)
