Guide 9

Hi Bill, I All,
Although this question as not been discussed very often on the list, I would like to point out some features concerning Guide 9.
Guide 8 has been continously improved, since its realase in 1998, but the core database, of course is allways the same.
In the last few years, many catalogs have been both increased and improved. Some are obscure, but others are basic.
The UCAC2 stellar catalog, and the last Revised NGC/IC, belong obviously to these ones, and one of the most important and interesting features is that they include accurate magnitudes, particulary V mag.
Assuming that Bill will include them in Guide 9, I would like to take the opportuny to ask him to improve the displaying of magnitudes, types (B, V, R, IR, B-V,...) and numbers.
The best for users would be, according to me, to be able to display magnitudes of all stars, or only the ones brighter than a given value, or beetween two given values, or fainter than that value.
Same way also for DSO.
On in other hand, all these new possibilities would be much easier to manage, if the tollbar would include two new icons, and clicking on them, would switch on or off magnitudes of star and/or DSO, independantly of other things.
What is the opinion of folks, but above all, of Bill's one ?
Bertrand
