The usual installation problem...
Mischa Schirmer Jul 2, 2004
I owned several copies of Guide, starting with v3 and now ending up
with v8. With all of them (as far as I remember) I had the same
problem under all kind of windows version:
guide requires c:\ as the installation directory, and if one chooses
another one, the installation will hang. So, installing it under c:\
and then moving the whole thing to the desired directory was my chosen
approach (always successful).
Yesterday I tried under Linux and Wine. The language selection window
comes up, and after selecting one it immediately crashes reporting an
"installation failure" (in a Guide popup window). I tried to install
it in separate directories named "c:" or similar (couldn't find a way
to include the backslash in the name though) or under the root
directory, neither worked.
Is there anyone who got it running?
Thank you
Mischa
