Thanks for the reply.

Using the April 29 update with Win98 and a Micro-Guider 5, I did get the
"Scope resolution successfully set" message, and I did get the Scope pad on
the menu bar, but contrary to what is says on page 38-39 of the Guide 8
manual, I did NOT get the dialog box asking about the type of mount. I did a
Goto Regulus then clicked Add Alignment Star. I did see the red crosshairs
centered on Regulus. Because of the lack of dialog box (as explained above),
I didn't try to add any more alignment stars. Instead, I moved the scope one
axis at-a-time to see whether the crosshair was moving in the correct
direction.

Turning the scope eastwards resulted in an eastward movement of the
crosshairs, but moving the Dec axis upwards, moved the crosshairs downwards.
I had already left home before I saw your message about negative resolutions
not being necessary, therefore, I entered -15401 for the Dec resolution. That
caused Guide to freeze.

Ctrl+Alt+Del brought up the Close Program window. When Guide was restarted,
the negative resolution was still in the Settings > Telescope Control window.
I repeated the steps above, and again did not get the dialog asking about type
of mount. Pushing the telescope around to check movement of the crosshairs
was inconclusive because the program seemed to be acting erratically. For
example, the scope control pad was visible on the menu bar even before we
clicked Settings > Telescope Control. Guide also kept redrawing the screen to
some point below the horizon, and the crosshair spontaneously disappeared or
re-appeared without any input or movement of scope.

It seems that the basic problem is that I don't get the dialog about type of
mount. The subsequent symptoms may evaporate if this problem is addressed.
