RE: [guide-user] Web DSS problem

Julian Jan 16, 2004

Bill,

I had just put all of Guide 8 on-both CDs and all the updates. Something
probably didn't get copied. In fact, this was the second time I had put all
of Guide 8 on because of this very problem. Maybe it is time for a new CD
burner DVD Drive. I had the same problem with another piece of software I
had.

Thanks for getting back to me. Cold enough for you!?

Julian

Hi Julian,

The Web DSS trouble sounds very much as if you should put the first
Guide disk in the CD drive, click on Extras... Install to Hard Drive,
and look for "RealSky & Ax.0 (4.6 MBytes)". Toggle that On.

(Actually, just putting the disk in the CD drive and doing a Web
DSS access ought to do the trick. When you do that, Guide will copy
'environ.dat' and some other files over. But remembering that some
things may be lingering on the CD is always a good idea. When in doubt,
download the updated software from the Web site, or stick the first
Guide disk in the CD drive, or both. I'd wager the crash you saw may
be related to this as well.)
