Scope control
ssb73q Dec 10, 2003
Hi, I have recently returned to my Guide8 to give it another try.
Scope control methodology in Guide was an issue for me and I had
resigned myself over the last year to use ECU. However, in searching
this archives again under "telescope control" I found the scope
feature in Guide that I had previously missed (main reason I found
Guide scope control previously weak), the "Scope Location Indicator".
Having that feature will now give me the information necessary to do
the practical scope control I need. Dry testing (not on actual sky
object) shows an ~ 2 minute error from the position of the slew to
telescope object and the Scope Location Indicator. No matter what
object I select, the 2-minute error remains. This may not seem
important, but it is when considering CCD work, it's just
another "almost there" issue to deal with. My scope drive is a Vixen
GP-DX with WinCTC controller (LX-200 clone command set).
I saw the reference about <<Alt-J, SCOPE_EPOCH=2000>> and tried that
thinking that my scope coordinates may be different, but that didn't
help.
I now have two questions:
1. Can the Scope Location Indicator be made to exactly agree with the
scope slew to object?
2. How do I undo the Alt-J - SCOPE_EPOCH=2000?
Regards,
Richard
