Hi Ernst,
This absolutely ought not to be the case when using the
"Make a PostScript File" function. In that situation, the
stars are created using the PostScript circle drawing command.
(You may still see a lot of lines in the file, but they would
be from other sources: drawing constellation boundaries and
lines, the legend, and so on.)
I briefly thought that perhaps I'd left some oddity in the
code, where it might make stars oddly if you set certain
parameters in certain ways. But it doesn't look as if it's
at all like that. Stars made with the "Make a PostScript File"
command are circles.
One possibility: are you using the current software from
the Web site? I made some _extreme_ changes in how this function
works:
http://www.projectpluto.com/update8.htm#color_ps
Despite the description of "improvements to color PostScript",
the changes actually affected (and improved) all PS files created
by Guide. It could be that, before I made this improvement, it
_was_ possible to get the sort of weird PS files you describe.
(I can't see how, but perhaps it was.)
When using a virtual PS printer and going through a Windows
driver, all bets are off; at that point, Guide has no knowledge
of the inner workings of the device, and I would not be surprised
at any odd results!
