I think this depends on the galaxy size or something. Many do show up
but in the case of 2003ia in NGC6109 the label appears at the 1 degree
level but the actual red supernova (in my case it's red) doesn't
appear until the 8 minute level. The galaxy "hides" it. NGC6109 is
very small anyway.
