Location from list or eclipse map?

Belated because of troubles with Yahoo:

Setting your location from the list works only if your location is in the
list. They often lack. They often are not accurate enough for our
purpose.

You can zoom in very much on the maps, so if there is a recognizable point
(river, coastline) near your location, the method via the eclipse map is
much more accurate than the location....the Big Apple is half a deg from
North to South, for instance! Brooklyn is not even in the list.

Many location names occur in several parts of the world, but are listed only
once.

Setting Valencia I get somewhere on the western hemisphere, but I want
Valencia in Spain...so from the list I have to be content with Alicante, 200
km away...

So I prefer the eclipse map method!

Bill, wouldn't it be a good idea that one could edit the location list to
enter one's prefered location?
We could even share locations of well-known Astrosites like those in France,
Portugal, New Mexico and South Africa. Or Astrofests which are yearly on the
same location.
