Of several things

Hi folks,

Replies to questions about displaying UCAC-2, mark file problems,
missing comets, selecting your location from a map, and getting a
"globe" view of eclipses/occultations/transits:

UCAC-2 DIFFICULTY:

Andrea, I'll have to edit the page in question to mention that
the new UCAC-2 display capability only exists in the beta software:

http://home.gwi.net/~pluto/guide8b.zip .

Those curious about UCAC-2 display in Guide should look at

http://www.projectpluto.com/ucac2.htm

MARK FILE TROUBLE:

Bertrand, I definitely won't be able to reply immediately with
a solution, because I have _no idea_ how that would happen. Could
I ask you to please e-mail me all the .MAR files from your Guide
directory, as an attachment? With any luck, I'll be able to
temporarily remove all _my_ .MAR files, replace them with yours,
and get the same result you did. Then I ought to be able to look
at the .MARs and 'marks.nam' file, and get some idea of what's
going on here.

MISSING COMETS FROM MPC FILE:

Bernd, dunno why this happens... but I've seen it before: on
one version or another of the comet files, things are missing, only
to return a version or two later. You might ask MPC about this one.

LOCATION, GLOBE VIEW:

Roger, the menu item to which Arild refers is "Extras... Set
Lat/Lon from Chart". (Ideally, this should be much more easily
accessible: when you go to "Settings... Location", there should
be a "Set location from map" option. Clicking on this would bring
up a map, no eclipse/occultation mode required; you would zoom
in/out and select a point from the chart. Or you could zoom in,
ask Guide to list cities within the on-screen area, then select
one. Unfortunately, this has been trickier to arrange than one
might reasonably expect; otherwise, I'd have done it long ago.

Getting the "globe" view is easy enough: select "Settings...
Projection... Orthographic."
