Displaying visual magnitudes

bertrand Laville Jul 26, 2003

Hi All, Hi Bill,

Several lists, both from the CD and extra files, allow to know visual magnitudes.
For example, you can choose Vj in the data shown, to display visual magnitudes of Tycho stars, directly on the chart.
Others lists, as Brian Skiff's Loneos stars, UBV Mermilliod, Gsc photometry data, Usno A2.0 and B1.0, and perhaps some others that I don't think about now, allow to know mV, either you click on, or in More info window.
But none of these lists allow to display mV on the chart.
Since the purpose of such a list is clearly to know visual magnitudes of stars of the list, I think it would be more intresting to display directly this data on the chart, instead of the name of the star (e.g. Loneos), or red magnitude (Usno A2.0), etc.
Bill, what is your opinion on this question, and if you agree, can I expect it will be part of a next update ?
If not, and I will admit it whitout any trouble, can anyone tell me how must I modify the concerned TDF lists ? (I have downloaded all the two CD on my hard disc)

Many thanks

Bertrand
