[guide-user] National versions of Guide

Jan Manek Dec 3, 1999

Hi all,

as I'm now working on a czech version of Guide, I've came to a dilemma.
What's the problem ? The _submenu_ hotkeys = the underlined characters in
_submenus_ (not the main menu hotkeys which are hard coded in Guide).

1) On one side I tend to make the submenu hotkeys logical in czech

2) On the other side I would like to have them same as the original english
version which is sometimes impossible as czech equivalent doesn't contain
the needed character (but it is possible to add that as an extra character
on the right side; however it looks ugly).

I've asked few local people about their opinion (we were talking generally
about localised versions of software) and half of them like the first
solution and other half like the second solution. Mainly it depends on the
fact if the person is familiar with english original or not.

Do have any experience with this sort of problem in your national versions
of Guide (or other programs) ?

Jan

P.S. I know I can browse through the Guide's national mutations, but it
takes a lot of time and even here the approach of each version is
individual...
