I've switched the group settings from "unmoderated"
to "new members moderated".>>

That's a great idea. Please tell me where to find that option. I am the list
"owner" for a Yahoo group associated with our astro club. I have set the
preferences on it to require approval prior to joining, but I didn't see any
option called "new members moderated". Are we talking about the same thing?
